I can call our dining room the parlour now!!! The sofa arrived yesterday and I'm so pleased with it. I was worried that it would look too small and too cheap. I ordered it on Sunday and it arrived Wednesday. Not so long ago everything used to take weeks to arrive and not so long ago I would never have got this sofa for £139. In the past, when I've made a purchase like this, I've woken up in the mornings feeling guilty and thinking that I'm being extravagant and that I've bought something we didn't really need but at that price I can enjoy it!!!
I was reading an article in the newspaper about a woman that started a cupcake making business and saved her family from bankruptcy. I get a bit annoyed when I read articles like that. Well done to the woman for taking the chance on doing this but I think there is more to it than just making the cakes, turning up and selling them. These articles never tell the story of how they actually came up with their strategy, how they chose what venue to try. I suppose I must feel a bit envious after my disappointing attempts last year, to sell my sewing at a fair that is put on regularly in a village near where I live. I probably chose the wrong venue so this year, if I decide to have another go, I will try somewhere else.

What an absolutely fabulous sofa, Ann! And you certainly got a GREAT deal on it. Doesn't it feel wonderful when you know you've gotten a bargain? I also adore that rug in your parlor. I've been on the lookout for a few rugs for my home, but haven't had any luck.
I've thought about selling some of my sewing, too. I always end up deciding that it's a bad idea. So many people are doing it already. And I grow quite attatched to my creations. People don't realize the effort that goes into a handcrafted item. :) Melissa
A very handsome new sofa! I think it's the internet (among other things) that's making everything a bit cheaper and faster; people just expect a better deal and faster service
The sofa was a great bargain and is quite a handsome piece of furniture for any room! I know what you mean about selling anything hand made ,unless you actually craft yourself you do not appreciate the amount of time and effort that goes into making something apart from the materials for it.
The key is to find just the right item that is in vogue or in demand and be willing to take a risk.... most risks take money and planning as you say they do not just happen..old adage " Right place ..right time..right item" it is not often that rags turn to riches.. with out investment you can afford to lose.
