Scotland November 2010

View album

Last week we were in Scotland, staying at the Tinto House Hotel, Symington, Lanarkshire.  When we arrived there was snow on the ground, the hills looked very wintery.  The hotel was comfortable and the public rooms very traditional looking with wood panelling and a huge, wide staircase.  Each day we had a trip out to different Castles and Palaces.  Even though the weather was very cold we enjoyed our sight seeing very much.  We didn't take pictures of everything we saw, as many of the sights were seen from the coach.  Our guide in Edinburgh, who was dressed in traditional Scottish regalia, showed us parts of the city not shown in my slide show.  For instance, we saw where Robert Louis Stevenson lived and the guide also explained a lot about the architecture of the houses.

I'm not sure if I'd go to Scotland in November in the future, it was just too cold!

On checking the slide show I notice that some pictures are out of sequence, I don't know why.

Dear Ann, enjoyed the tour of Scotland...so much history. Castles have always intrigued me...if I had lived back in those days though, I'd would have had to be extremely hardy...to survive the cold. I would been hugging a fireplace all day or tucked up in my bed. I'd rather have been living in a rough little cottage, that would perhaps have been easier to keep warm LOL. Thank you for sharing your excursion!

What a lovely trip. Scotland is one of my favourite places but I've never dared venture north after September. brrrr. Perhaps that's why a 'wee dram' is si popular!

I do so much hope to travel overseas someday! Your pictures are breathtaking... my favorite is in Stirling - The Bridge Over Forth River. Stunning! I love history and old architecture.

Hi Ann, I thought I left a comment yesterday!Sometimes I click out before the security 'thingy' comes up.
All of your pics are lovely and the slide show is brilliant I would not notice if some were out of sync. You are certainly covering some different places with the tours, but this time of year is definitely Too cold!
